Week by Week Detail, Google Certified Educator Training, Level 1

All O'Briant Group sessions are facilitated live online by Google experts. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, and we maintain a 1:10 ratio of facilitators to participants. 

About the Program

The O'Briant Group GCE Level 1 or Level 2Training is seven weeks long. Participants meet weekly for 90 minutes, with about an hour of additional homework each week. 

PD and Design Thinking

Like everything the O'Briant Group team does, these training sessions are infused with the creative, collaborative thinking skills of human-centered design, also known as design thinking. 

Week 1: Getting Started & Finding Help

  • Key Question: How might we use technology to benefit teaching and learning?
  • Topics Covered:  Overview of Google tools, where to find help, Google Groups, and the Google Educator Group. 

Week 2: Everything You Wanted to Know About Google Classroom

  • Key Question: How might we optimize online teaching and learning? 
  • Topics Covered: Using Google Classroom to create assignments and rosters, encourage discussion, foster synchronous and asynchronous learning, and stay organized. 

Week 3: Optimize Your Online Experience

  • Key Question: How might we create a rich, nuanced online experience for ourselves and our students? 
  • Topics Covered: Chrome web browser, extensions, the Web Store, and the finer points of Google Search. 

Week 4: In Touch & Organized

  • Key Question: How might we communicate effectively and efficiently with students, parents, and other stakeholders? 
  • Topics Covered: Calendar, Meet, Gmail, Tasks, and Chat, including how to use these tools with Classroom. 

Week 5: Amazing Assignments, Part 1

  • Key Question: How might we optimize online teaching and learning? 
  • Topics Covered: Drive, Forms, and Sheets, including how to use these tools with Classroom. 

Week 6: Amazing Assignments, Part 2

  • Key Question: How might we make assigning and assessing work as easy as possible? 
  • Topics Covered: Docs, Drawings Earth, and Keep, including how to use these tools with Classroom. 

Week 7:  Blended Learning with Videos

  • How might we draw on video content to create exciting lessons in limited time?
  • Topics Covered: YouTube and exam registration. Includes how to incorporate YouTube into Classroom.

Individual licenses are $299 per seat. Seven-week cohorts are scheduled on a rolling basis.
